1. Product Description

Tower (or barrel) bolts are a common feature in securing wooden gates and doors. They comprise of a round solid steel shoot running in a long continuous guide attached by the backplate. The shoot is operated by hand using an attached metal knob. The shoot slides into a keep which is fixed onto an adjacent surface. The metal knob can then be rotated 90o to engage in the housing slot, thus locking the bolt in position. We have provided some basic instructions to install your new tower bolt:

1.Choose your location and mark the screw holes in pencil. For single bolts, the best location for a bolt is just below the handle, whereas if you want to install two bolts, place one at the top and one at the bottom of the door. Mark your location and mark the screw holes in pencil for reference.

2.Taking all necessary safety precautions, drill pilot holes at your screw holes and screw your tower bolt into place.

3.Mark your second set of points on the door frame where the extended tower bolt will rest. Position your keep in accordance with these marks on the open door and mark the screw hole in pencil.

4.Repeat step 2 on your keep and test to see the accuracy of the bolt. The keep should fit the bolt snugly, meaning that everything is properly in place. If everything is in order, then simply secure the rest of the tower bolt using the other holes
